When I started this page it was a summary of the climbing and ski touring trips that also feature in my main travel page. In recent years semi-retirement has given me more time to spend in the mountains and we have started to do longer walks. Some, like the epic Cape Wrath Trail, involve tents and wild camping, the GR5 and Juliana trail explore the Alps, while some are closer to home. As I started these posts quite a while ago some of the earlier posts look very clunky!
Seven days hiking in the Triglav National Park in Slovenia. Tamer than the GR5 or Cape Wrath but still fine walking.
A traverse of the North of England via the Lake District and the Dales and Moors of North Yorkshire. Mountains on an English scale.
A traverse of the Alps from Lac Leman in Switzerland to Menton on the Mediterranean
A short tour in the Western Bernese Oberland after a covid induced gap.
A warm up for the mountains walking across this fine range of hills in the west of England

A fine peak overlooking Monthey and the Dents du Midi takes me into a new area of nearby peaks.
Guide Daniel takes Tommy, David and I on a fantastic tour among some of Valais's great 4000m peaks ending up in Zermatt.
After several years away in the far East I am back with friend David to do a five day ski tour in the Bernese Oberland.
How to get away from it all in a crowded ski resort in holiday season. Mild to extreme options.
A trip to Arctic Iceland to climb peaks on skins and then ski down the faces above the fjords.
A three day hike around the Dent du Midi. We look at them everyday from Champery so decide to tour.
A few days skiing from this fantastic hotel above Wengen and under the North face of the Eiger.
5 days ski touring along the Swiss Italian border on the Haute Route du Soleil.
Christmas 2011 in the mountains including a boys ascent of the Point du Vorlex on New Year's Eve.

A link to the web cams and weather reports for the Portes du Soleil. Handy for checking conditions.
