Rick and Lucille's houseHouse shuttersIn Summer 2005 we head off for a holiday in Namibia but start with a few days in Rick and Lucille Lewin's fabulous house overlooking Plettenburg Bay.

Plett is not renowned for its architecture but Rick and Lucille's house is the exception with Pawson style modern lines with the concrete set off by shutters made from local wood.

Vicky and Lucille enjoy breakfastToasting marshmallowsThe weather is decidedly cool but the girls expose bare arms in the weak winter sunshine. By evening we need a fire in the house and the boys warm up while toasting marshmallows.
Rick on the RobbergSundown on Plet BeachOn Saturday we set off for a long walk around the Robberg, the rocky peninsular the reaches into the Indian Ocean from the right hand side of the bay. Named after the large colonies of seals that live around the base, this makes a good 3 hour walk. We stop by an island most of the way around to eat a picnic and watch the gulls.

Shorter walks along the beach allow us to take off our shoes and relax after the stresses of London and long distance flights.
